Holiday Campaign and Contest
This campaign, Jingle Your Way to a Safe Holiday, is all about promoting safe and responsible driving and celebrating during the holiday season. Youth and teens ages 11-19 are encouraged to create a short song or tune promoting safe driving throughout the holiday season. Our staff picks the top six jingles for public vote (in the middle and high school division) and those six are shared on our Holiday Contest page for the public to vote for their favorite one! Once we have our top six in each division, we share the jingles on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The first place winning jingle in both divisions is then boosted on Facebook throughout the holiday season to remind youth and teens to make good choices.

As part of this campaign and contest, schools and youth groups across the Commonwealth are encouraged to register for materials to promote safe driving. The 2023 materials included: ice scrapers with a safety message, one large vinyl banner with the holiday campaign theme and message, posters, and winter driving tip cards. During November and December I share reminders on social media to register for the campaign materials and to participate in the jingle contest.

A Variety of Graphics
These graphics were used on social media to raise awareness of distracted driving, seat belt use, speeding, etc. Other graphics included were used to promote making good choices around celebratory holidays.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
For our 2020 Halloween Campaign, we decided to host a virtual pumpkin carving contest! Individual students and school groups participated by carving pumpkins and sharing them with us on social media. We asked them to tag YOVASO and to use #ProtectYourPumpkin. I sent out a media release to promote the contest and shared regular posts on our social media pages to encourage participation. During the month-long campaign timeframe, YOVASO received 25,800 impressions on Twitter and 69,944 impressions on Facebook. On Instagram, YOVASO reached 2,951 during the campaign dates.

Sticker Design Contest
With our traditional Save Your Tailgate campaign being put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to switch gears and come up with a new campaign. I landed on Drive for Change: Buckle Up and Slow Down, but then we had to come up with a virtual plan. We decided on a sticker design contest that would be part of our spring 2021 campaign. Students from across the Commonwealth submitted their designs to us and then we picked the top five for public vote. I sent out a media release to promote the contest and shared regular posts on our social media pages to encourage participation. During the month-long campaign timeframe, YOVASO received 36,700 impressions on Twitter and 89,259 impressions on Facebook. On Instagram, YOVASO reached 3,177 during the campaign dates.
In addition to the virtual contest, students also had the opportunity to register for a Drive for Change Kit that included a ceramic mug, packet of apple cider, YOVASO pen, mini pumpkin stress reliever, "Buckle Up- I Need You Here With Me" cards to share with friends, a YOVASO marketing card, and a flyer about the sticker design contest.

Snapchat Geofilters
I've created several filters for Snapchat that were used during our annual Summer Leadership Retreat at James Madison University. Having the filters provided an extra element of fun for students in attendance to share their day with those who weren't at the Retreat. The filter also provided a promotional opportunity when high school students who weren't at the Retreat saw it.
